Princeton police are asking for the public's assistance to identify the man they believe assaulted a woman walking downtown Sunday night.
A composite sketch of a man police believe assaulted a woman in downtown Princeton on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. PRINCETON — Police released a sketch this morning of a man suspected of assaulting a woman in downtown Princeton Sunday night.
Just after midnight Sunday, a man with his shirt pulled over the back of his head attacked a 21-year-old woman as she walked on the sidewalk on Paul Robeson Place, the police said in a news release.
The man approached the woman from behind, placed one hand over her mouth and the other hand on her shoulder and pulled her down to the ground, police said.
The woman fought the attacker and screamed. He put his hands around her throat in an attempt to hold her down and moved a hand down to her stomach, police said.
When a vehicle approached, the man fled on foot in a northeasterly direction through the YMCA parking lot, Sgt. Steven Riccitello said.
Riccitello said police do not know the assailant's intent. There was no sexual assault, he said.
The suspect is described as Hispanic or Asian, or possibly both, in his late 20s or early 30s, with fair skin mottled with possible age spots, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 to 200 pounds with a stocky build. He has dark brown eyes, black bushy eyebrows and a wide mouth, police said.
The assailant's hair was covered by his T-shirt, which was pulled over his head from the back, police said.
He was wearing a black cotton T-shirt with a rectangular graphic design in white and black or gray, and black pants, police said.
