HAMILTON — An accident on I-295 in Hamilton this afternoon caused a temporary lane closure and led to a drug arrest, police said.
When State Police arrived on the scene they found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia on the floor of one of the cars involved in the accident and they placed the driver of the car, 60-year-old Gary Hrynko, under arrest, said Sgt. Brian Polite, a State Police spokesman.
Hrynko was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and paraphernalia and released pending a court date, Polite said.
Polite said that information about the number of cars involved and the cause of the crash was not yet available. The accident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. near mile marker 58, he said.
One lane was closed temporarily, but reopened shortly after, police said.
