A man was shot and killed inside a house on the 100 block of Phillips Avenue, Lt. Steve Varn said
TRENTON -- Detectives are investigating the second Trenton homicide in four days with a fatal shooting in North Trenton house this afternoon, police said.
A man was shot and killed inside a house on the 100 block of Phillips Avenue, Lt. Steve Varn said. Officers were called out shortly before 5 p.m. and found him still inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shakira Monroe, who said she was a friend of the victim, identified him as Devon Hewitt.
Hewitt, who Monroe said was in his 50s, was from the area and sometimes played cards inside the house with other men from the neighborhood.
No arrests have been made. Detectives from the newly constituted Mercer County Homicide Task Force, which combined the Trenton and Mercer County Prosecutor's Office homicide units, were on the scene investigating, Varn said.
On Monday afternoon, 26-year-old Ruhallman Kearney was shot and killed inside an abandoned home on Sanhican Drive. No arrests have been made in that case.
