The 13-year-old girl called her mother after seeing the man, and the suspect drove off, police said.

EWING - A 13-year-old girl waiting at a bus stop this morning was approached by a man who asked her if she wanted a ride, then drove off when the girl called her mother, police said.

Police are investigating the incident as an attempted luring, and are asking the public for any information on this morning's case or any similar occurrences around the township.

The girl, who attends Fisher Middle School, was unharmed and never entered the man's vehicle, police said.

She was in the Prospect Heights section of the township waiting for the bus around 7:50 a.m. when the man drove up to her. From his car, he asked the girl who was on the street corner where she was going and if she needed a ride. The girl called her mother on a cell phone and the man drove off, according to police.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic male, about 30 years old, dark hair, possibly wearing a puffy coat. His vehicle was said to be an older model, grey, with a tan interior. The seats in the vehicle were described as "spotty," as if they had dirty buildup on them.

Anyone with information on the case, or who has information about a similar incident, is asked to call Detective John Shaler at (609) 882-1313, or the police tip line at (609) 882-7530.
