Edward Acosta, 22, of Trenton and 33-year-old Timothy Miller of Willingboro allegedly shot two men on Montgomery Street in Trenton on May 2.

TRENTON — Two men were indicted yesterday on charges they shot two men and ran from police officers who tried to arrest them, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Edward Acosta, 22, of Trenton and 33-year-old Timothy Miller of Willingboro shot two men on Montgomery Street in Trenton on May 2 at 8 p.m. and got into a car driven by Miller’s girlfriend Tiffany Wright of Trenton, the prosecutor’s office said.

Trenton police officers heard the shots and saw a 2002 Lexus driving away from the scene.

Wright, 33, refused to stop when police officers tried to pull her over, the prosecutor’s office said. She eventually stopped the car and Acosta and Miller ran. Wright was arrested immediately, the prosecutor’s office said.

Trenton police chased Wright down an alley between Bond Street and East Ingham Avenue. Wright pointed a gun at an officer, who then shot Wright in the foot.

He ran into a deli and was arrested, the prosecutor’s office said. His gun was recovered in the alley. Acosta was arrested days later during a traffic stop in Hamilton, the prosecutor’s office said.

Both men are charged with attempted murder, eluding, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and multiple drug and weapons charges. They are being held at Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $1 million bail.

Wright, who was charged with eluding and multiple drug offenses, is free on $20,000 bail.
