Authorities did not identify the woman killed in the morning blaze on Westerlea Avenue.
HIGHTSTOWN - A woman is dead after fire ripped through her apartment in a building at a borough housing complex this morning, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said.
The deceased resident, whose identity was not released as detectives seek her next of kin, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, said Casey DeBlasio, a prosecutor's office spokeswoman. The woman died at the hospital shortly afterward, DeBlasio said.
The blaze on Westerlea Avenue brought out firefighters from the borough and surrounding towns, said Lt. Tom Healey of the Plainsboro Fire Company.
The fire is under investigation and no information about the cause was immediately released. No other injuries have been reported.
