TRENTON — The identity of a 39-year-old man who was shot dead yesterday afternoon at the corner of Walnut Avenue and Chambers Street in Trenton has been released, officials said.

Officials identified the victim as Keyon Shontel Wade of Ewing, said Casey DeBlasio, a spokeswoman for the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers on patrol in the area heard gunshots at about 12:45 p.m. and found the victim shot in the torso, Trenton police spokesman Lt. Steve Varn said yesterday.

“Upon checking the area, they ended up locating the victim on the corner,” Varn said.

Paramedics rushed the man to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he was pronounced dead at 1:07 p.m., DeBlasio said.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is continuing the investigation, she said.
