One of the two suspects stood by the bank entrance holding a handgun, police said. No shots were fired.

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP - A Wells Fargo bank branch on the Pennington Circle was robbed this morning by two men, at least one of whom was armed, police said.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt during the robbery, where one suspect stood guard at the entrance holding a gun while the other jumped over the counter.

"He bolted the counter there, grabbed the money, and took off running," Police Chief Lance Maloney said.

After grabbing cash from one of the drawers, the suspect let himself out from behind the counter through a doorway, then fled the bank along with the second suspect. They headed towards a nearby ShopRite, where police believe they got into a car parked in the store's parking lot and drove away.

Two customers were inside the bank when it was robbed, and the men announced they wanted money before the one suspect jumped over the counter.

The first suspect is described as a black male, between 30 and 40 years old, 6 feet tall, slim build, wearing a black ski mask, blue jumpsuit and Timberland-style work boots. Police said the second suspect is a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall, slim build, wearing a black ski mask with a yellow stripe on it, blue jeans, a light-colored sweatshirt, and black sneakers with white striping.

The FBI is investigating alongside township police, Maloney said.
