TRENTON - The second day of closing arguments in the trial of Trenton Mayor Tony Mack and his brother Ralphiel Mack were adjourned for the day due to inclement weather, according to an order from the judge.
Judge Michael A. Shipp issued an order this morning asking jurors and attorneys to return to the court on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. to resume the final days of the nearly month-long trial.
Defense attorneys for both the mayor and his brother were scheduled to present their final arguments to the jury today, followed by a rebuttal argument presented by the government before the case is sent to the jury to begin deliberating a verdict.
The trial has faced a number of weather related delays, including on Monday when a snowstorm closed the federal courts.
Today's ice storm which has made roads slippery and treacherous, has also caused many local offices to close for the day including the City of Trenton and the state of New Jersey. Mercer County courts are closed for the day, but Mercer County offices will open on a two-hour delay. County libraries will open at noon.
