According to court records, Mack will be representing himself "pro se" in the matter which is scheduled to go before Mercer County Assignment Judge Mary Jacobson on Wednesday.

TRENTON - Convicted Trenton Mayor Tony Mack may represent himself in a state court hearing next week regarding the Attorney General's Office request to have him removed from office.

Mack is representing himself "pro se," according to court records. He may also represent himself in the hearing before Mercer County Assignment Judge Mary Jacobson on Wednesday.

Mack was convicted on six corruption-related charges on Feb. 7 following a five week trial in federal court, but has since said he will not resign his office.

In a statement to The Times earlier this week, Mack said he would fight the "subjective actions" to remove him taken by the Attorney General's office, but declined to say on what grounds he would base his argument.

Mack refuses to answer questions unless they are emailed to his city office. An email sent this morning with several questions about the upcoming hearing resulted in a one line response:

"The mayor is filing pro se, any decisions beyond that have yet to be made. Office of the Mayor"

If Mack had been convicted in state court, he would have have been removed from office immediately upon conviction, but since the conviction was in federal court, the state Office of the Attorney General has asked the state court to recognize the conviction and have Mack removed from office.

At the hearing on Wednesday, Jacobson may hear oral arguments from both the state and Mack, or his attorney if he has representation.
