TRENTON — A Hamilton man has confessed that the more than $10,000 in drugs and money seized from his home and his car last week belonged to him, prosecutors said today.
Darius Beckett, 24, accepted the responsibility for 643 bags of heroin, 16 grams of marijuana, two digital scales and more than $4,000 in cash found in his East State Street home and Chevrolet Monte Carlo, according to Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor John Boyle. Beckett is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, intent to distribute and intent to distribute in a school zone, Boyle said.
The search warrant for Beckett’s East State Street home was issued after officers found drug packaging materials and more than $1,000 cash in his car after he had been pulled over. Beckett has no previous convictions as an adult, although he was charged as a juvenile with possession of controlled dangerous substances, Boyle said.
Mercer County Superior Court Judge Robert Billmeier maintained Beckett’s bail at $100,000 cash or bond following a hearing on the case this morning.
