TRENTON – Two people were shot during a brawl inside a Wilbur section home early this morning, police said.

Police were also investigating another shooting from earlier in the night on the first block of Garfield Avenue.

Officers called to the 100 block of South Cook Avenue found a 21-year-old man and 36-year-old man shot inside their home. Police believe the two wounded men let the shooter inside the home along with six others.

“Apparently a number of individuals went to the victims’ residence,” Lt. Steve Varn said. “During that time, a fight broke out between the individuals and the occupants of the residence.”

One of the men let inside pulled out a handgun and started shooting, Varn said. The man fled with the others afterward.

In the earlier incident, officers sent to Garfield Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. found a 21-year-old on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the buttocks, Varn said. There was no description of a suspect. The victim was expected to survive his injuries.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call police at (609) 989-4170 or the Confidential Tip Line at (609) 989-3663.
