EWING — A 30-year-old township man was shot in the face Saturday night by a gunman who apparently lured him to a window, police said.

The injured man is in critical condition at a hospital but is expected to survive, police said today.

The 30-year-old man was inside a home on the 300 block of Dryden Avenue just after 11 p.m. Saturday when he heard a knock at the window, he later told police. When he went to the window and looked out through the blinds, the gunman fired and struck him once in the face, police said.

The victim called 911 himself and was taken to a hospital by Pennington Road First Aid Squad, Lt. Rocco Maruca said. Police had received no reports of fights or gunplay in the area in the days prior to the crime, he said.

Police would not say if the man lives in the home where the shooting occurred, or if other people were inside at the time, saying those issues are part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Detective Bill Wolverton at (609) 882-1313, ext. 5577 or the Ewing Police Tip Line at (609) 882-7530.
