Just before 7 p.m. Friday, police responded to the Subway on Arctic Parkway where a store employee told police that two males entered the store, pointed a handgun at her, and ordered her to sit down, police said.
EWING — Men armed with handguns made off with cash and cigarettes after robbing two stores over the weekend, police said.
Just before 7 p.m. Friday, police responded to the Subway on Arctic Parkway where a store employee told police that two males entered the store, pointed a handgun at her, and ordered her to sit down, police said.
The employee said that one of the robbers then walked behind the counter to the rear stock room while the other robber told a customer in the store to sit behind the counter with her, police said.
Police said the employee then told them that one of the robbers grabbed the cash register and fled out of the store.
Police said a search of the area turned up no suspects.
The employee described one of the robbers as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 to 180 pounds and wearing a black sweat shirt, black pants and a black mask, police said.
Police said the employee described the second robber as a male, around 6 feet tall, 200 pounds and wearing a dark colored hood, and a gray sweat shirt and dark-colored pants.
In an incident on Sunday, police responded to Zainy’s Unique Food Mart on Parkside Avenue about 5:30 p.m., where the owner of the business told them that three males, two of whom were armed, entered the store and took cash and cigarettes.
The owner told police that after he was ordered to open the register, the men took the cash and boxes of cigarettes before they fled on foot, police said.
The owner of the business described the first robber as a Hispanic or white male wearing a hooded sweat shirt with a gray torso area and dark-colored sleeves with designs and writing on them, blue jeans, and a mask.
The owner described the second robber as a black male, around 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180 pounds and wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans, and a black mask, police said.
The last robber was described as black male, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, wearing a dark colored hooded sweat shirt, dark colored jeans and a mask.
No one was injured in either of the robberies, police said.
