Jonathan Mendheim, 33, who was wanted on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography, was arrested in the parking lot of Michael's Plaza.
HIGHTSTOWN — A man from Indiana was arrested in the borough yesterday on child pornography charges.
Borough police, in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration Custom Enforcement Child Pornography Unit, arrested 33-year-old Jonathan Mendheim on a federal warrant out of Tennessee, police said.
Mendheim was charged with receiving and possessing child pornography, Detective Ben Miller said in a news release. A federal magistrate signed the warrant on Dec. 5.
Miller said Mendheim does not face any charges in New Jersey.
Mendheim arrived in the borough about three months ago and had been sleeping in his vehicle at different parking lots in the area, Miller said. His last known address was in Indianapolis, Ind.
Police located Mendheim's vehicle in the parking lot of Michael's Plaza, on Mercer Street, and arrested him at around 5:30 p.m.
He was processed and released into the custody of homeland security agents without incident, Miller said.
