Trenton police investigate a shooting at a home on the 200 block of Fulton Street.
TRENTON - Police are investigating a shooting in Chambersburg tonight that left a 26-year-old man shot to the chest, the Trenton Fire Department reported.
The fire department's Engine 3 was dispatched for EMS assistance to a home on the 200 block of Fulton Street where a man had been shot shortly before 10 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find the wounded man inside the residence, lying on the floor in the upstairs front bedroom, acting Capt. Robert Fanning said.
The man's wife and children were inside the home as well, but none of them had been hurt, Fanning said.
Firefighters performed CPR on the man, who had also lost consciousness and was in a lot of pain. The bullet had traveled through his arm and into the side of his chest, Fanning said.
Trenton EMS personnel brought the man out of the house and took him by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. His condition was unknown.
Police said the case was being investigated and did not immediately have information about how the shooting occurred. Police officers could be seen interviewing people inside the home, including a woman rocking a baby in her arms.
