Luis Bryan Alvarez, 25, was shot to death through a first-floor window.
TRENTON - A resident of the Chambersburg section of Trenton was fatally shot through his window last night following an argument at his front door, police said.
Luis Bryan Alvarez, 25, was home on the 200 block of Fulton Street shortly before 10 p.m. when he argued with someone on the street, Lt. Steve Varn said today.
"Right now, it looks like an unknown individual had banged on the front door," Varn said. "The victim had opened the door, there were words exchanged."
Alvarez shut the door after the confrontation and was back in the house when he was struck by a bullet fired through a first-floor window, Varn said. The suspect fired one shot before fleeing the scene. No description was immediately available.
Firefighters called out to perform emergency medical care said they found Alvarez unconscious in an upstairs bedroom. He was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:56 p.m., Varn said.
Numerous other people were inside the house, including a baby who could be seen through the open front door. None were hurt, police said.
The investigation into the city's sixth homicide of the year began as police were in the initial stages of probing the fifth killing, that of 18-year-old James Austin, hours earlier.
Austin was the son of retired Trenton police Sgt. Luddie Austin.
"It becomes challenging," Varn said. "We adjust. We do what we need to do."
Two arrests - including one on a murder charge - were made by 9:30 a.m. in Austin's killing. No arrests have been made in the Alvarez homicide.
