Casey Corker allegedly shot two men and robbed them of $700 while they sat in their vehicle on Oakland Street on April 12.
TRENTON — A suspect in a double shooting last month was identified by the victims after they saw him on surveillance camera footage from a Radio Shack store that they were shown, a prosecutor said in court today.
Casey Corker, 25, allegedly shot two men as he robbed them of $700 while they sat in their vehicle on Oakland Street on April 12.
Superior Court Judge Thomas Sumners set Corker’s bail at $250,000 today. Corker was already being held in lieu of $150,000 bail after being arrested on April 17 for an unrelated incident in which he allegedly made two false 911 calls.
The investigation that led to the attempted murder charges began after the victims were dropped off at Capital Health Regional Medical Center. One of the victims was shot in the groin and the other was shot in the abdomen.
Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Eugene said the victims recognized Corker from seeing him in a Radio Shack they were in earlier that day. After watching surveillance tape from the store they were able to identify the suspect for police, she said.
Eugene asked for bail to be set higher, but the defense argued against her characterization of the crime.
“It sounds to me at worst this is a robbery, not a criminal attempt to commit murder,” said Kathleen Redpath-Perez, Corker's attorney.
