The homicide would be the city's 13th in 2013, and the second since Saturday's killing of 19-year-old Devahje Bing.
TRENTON - Trenton police are investigating an overnight shooting on the front porch of a city house that neighbors said left a man dead.
Neighbors on Cleveland Avenue said they heard more than 10 shots shortly after midnight and soon after saw police tending to a wounded man.
"There was a guy laying on the porch," said a neighbor, who asked not to be identified because he feared retaliation. "I know he didn't make it."
Detectives had numerous evidence cones marking the crime scene this morning. City police and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office could not immediately be reached for official comment.
Cleveland Avenue is a side street between East State Street and Walnut Avenue near the Hamilton Township border. Police towed at least one SUV from the scene, but any connection to the shooting remained unclear.
If confirmed by police as a homicide, it would be Trenton's 13th slaying of the year and the second since Saturday's killing of 19-year-old Devahje Bing.
