HAMILTON — A car was stolen and several others were broken into near Drialo Park over the weekend, leaving residents looking for answers.

Between eight and 10 cars were burglarized in the Yardville-Allentown Road neighborhood late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, police Capt. Remo DiPaolo said today.

In addition, a 2011 Honda Pilot was stolen from Claridge Drive on Sunday and has not been recovered, DiPaolo said.

“All of the vehicles were unlocked,” DiPaolo said. “There were numerous items taken. Some cars had a small amount of cash, a few GPS devices and phone chargers.”

Burglaries were reported on Drialo Drive, Claridge Avenue, Makefield Circle, Woodfield Lane, Elmwynd Drive and Stanworth Lane, according to the police blotter posted on the township website.

Karen Giallella said she woke up on Sunday morning to fraud alerts from her bank saying there had been charges to one of her credit cards in Philadelphia, far from her family’s Woodfield Lane residence.

She found her purse missing and her car ransacked, with neighbors abuzz about the string of burglaries and regretting they had left their cars unlocked.

“We all just have a false sense of security based on where we live, off the beaten path,” Giallella said.

Another car reported stolen from Christine Avenue in the White Horse section of town, and vehicle burglarized at the Hamilton Marketplace, were not related to the Drialo Park burglaries, DiPaolo said.

Seventeen automobile burglaries and four vehicle thefts have been reported so far in June, according to the police blotter. The township has had 188 car burglaries and 52 thefts of vehicles this year.

A number of the incidents occurred in bunches, with a few dates showing more than five cars burglarized on the same night. The blotter lists an average of fewer than 10 automobiles stolen per month, though the number ballooned to 19 in April.

In May, 48 cars were burglarized, the most in a one-month period this year.

Police are still investigating a string of home burglaries in the Golden Crest neighborhood of Hamilton Square.
