The suspects allegedly fired from the car, parked the vehicle, then returned to the victims to shoot again.
TRENTON - A young city woman hanging out with friends behind the Rowan Towers apartment complex was killed and two people with her wounded in a shooting late last night, police said today.
The small group was in the rear of the apartment complex at 620 West State Street when a car drove by shooting, Lt. Mark Kieffer said. The occupants of the car then parked and returned to let loose another round of gunfire on the victims, he said.
Tiara Green, 19, was shot once in the stomach and died in surgery at Capital Health Regional Medical Center this morning, Mercer County First Assistant Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said.
Another woman shot alongside Green was struck in the back, he said. That victim had also been rushed into surgery and was listed in "extremely critical condition" today, but expected to survive.
Also wounded alongside the two women was a young man who was shot in the buttocks, Onofri said.
Police and the prosecutor's office are investigating the shooting, which is Trenton's 17th homicide of 2013. Rayshawn Ransom, who was shot on Passaic Street early Thursday, died this weekend.
