Jacob Carrera, 22, was wanted by Trenton and Hamilton police.
TRENTON —A city man who cut an officer with a bottle an attempted warrant arrest last week was arrested yesterday morning after attempting to flee through a third story window, police said.
Jacob Carrera, 22, was wanted by Trenton and Hamilton police for probation violations, criminal trespassing, burglary, assault on a law enforcement officer, and weapons possession.
Yesterday, he again tried to elude capture by trying to escape from a building on the 100 block of Adeline Street when members of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force came to arrest him around 7:30 a.m., police said.
In 2012, Carrera was arrested for burglary but he failed to appear in court for the burglary charge, which led to a warrant for his arrest, police said.
Last Thursday evening, officers noticed a man matching Carrera’s description near Chambers Street and Roebling Avenue. When the officers announced their presence, Carrera threw a glass bottle before fleeing, police said. Police said an officer attempted to shield himself but the bottle broke and cut the officer’s hands.
The officer was treated and released that evening at Saint Francis Medical Center, police said.
Police said Carrera remained at large until this morning.
Carrera now faces additional charges of resisting arrest by flight and use of physical force, police said.
Police said Carrera was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton for evaluation of minor abrasions. After being treated, he will be sent to the Mercer County Correction Center.
