Jacob Carrera was wanted for burglary when sheriff's officers found him. He threw a glass bottle that cut one officer on the hand.
TRENTON — A Trenton man who cut a sheriff’s officer with a bottle while avoiding arrest last month will be held without bail, a judge decided yesterday morning.
Jacob Carrera, 22, was wanted for burglary when sheriff’s officers found him June 13 at the intersection of Chambers Street and Roebling Avenue. After the officers announced their presence, Carrera threw a glass bottle at one of the officers and fled, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Officers searched the area but were unable to find Carrera that day. The officer who was hit by the glass bottle suffered cuts on both of his hands when the bottle broke and was treated and released from a hospital that night, the release said.
When officers again located Carrera on June 21 in a building on Adeline Street, he attempted to escape through a third-story window but was apprehended by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, authorities said.
In addition to the burglary charges, Carrera now faces aggravated assault and resisting arrest charges, and has violated the terms of his probation.
Without a bail option, Carrera faces, so he will have to remain in Mercer County Correction Center.
