TRENTON — A drive-by shooting that left a city man shot in the side Tuesday remained under investigation by police today.

The 26-year-old victim was standing with a group of friends on the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Mark Kieffer said. A black Jeep Cherokee drove down the boulevard and started shooting, firing multiple rounds before driving out of sight, Kieffer said.

There was no exchange of gunfire, and despite EMS crews discovering what they believed to be two trails of blood, there was just the one victim.

The wounded male was able to get to Capital Health Regional Medical Center before police arrived at the crime scene, and was treated there for one gunshot wound to his right side, Kieffer said. He was expected to survive his injuries.

A description of the shooter or shooters inside the Cherokee was not immediately available last night. The case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on the crime should call police at (609) 989-4170, or the Confidential Tip Line at (609) 989-3663.
