TRENTON — A city man was shot and killed after three men forced entry to his home on the 600 block of North Olden Avenue early today, police said.
Kayron Jones, 25, was shot once in the chest just after 12:30 a.m. and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he died, police spokesman Lt. Mark Keiffer said.
Police responded to a report of a shooting and learned that the three men came into the row home through a window, Keiffer said. Full descriptions of the suspects were not available.
The incident is being investigated by Trenton Detective Ryan Woodhead and Detective Gary Wasko from the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office. No arrests have been made.
Jones' death is the city's 30th homicide this year. There were a record 31 killings in 2005.
The shooting comes a day after two police officers were wounded in a shooting that left a domestic violence suspect dead.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the police confidential tip line at (609) 989-3663.
