TRENTON — A 38-year-old city man was attacked by robbers wielding baseball bats and a knife during a street holdup Thursday night, police said today.The victim was beaten and stabbed during the robbery, but is expected to survive his injuries, Lt. Steve Varn said.
“He was struck by the baseball bat, and then he was stabbed by one of the suspects,” Varn said.
Police say the victim was on the 300 block of Garfield Avenue and walking home from work around 8 p.m. He was confronted by three suspects, two of whom were armed with bats and one who had a knife. The men started beating and stabbing the victim, took cash and personal property from him, and fled, police said.
The man was stabbed in the arm and stomach. An ambulance took him to St. Francis Medical Center to be treated.
