TRENTON — A city woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the back during a domestic dispute early today was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, police said.

The 61-year-old victim suffered a single stab wound and contusions and scratches to his head and neck, but was expected to survive.

The altercation happened inside an apartment the two share in the Rowan Towers high-rise on the 600 block of West State Street. Just after 4 a.m., police were called out when 54-year-old Barbara Ricks allegedly stabbed her boyfriend.

Other people also were inside the apartment at the time, but no one else was injured, Lt. Steve Varn said.

Ricks was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses, while the victim was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
