The driver in the red vehicle fled the scene and continued driving south, according to a witness report, police said.
EAST WINDSOR — Troopers from the New Jersey State Police are looking for the driver of a red or maroon vehicle who left the scene of an accident on the Turnpike Tuesday morning, police said.
The vehicle was traveling south on the highway at about 10 a.m. when it struck a blue Chevy Cavalier traveling in the same direction. The Cavalier spun around and collided with the guardrail on the right shoulder, police said.
The driver in the red vehicle fled the scene and continued driving south, according to a witness report, police said.
The male driver of the Cavalier suffered serious head trauma and was extricated by rescue workers. His female passenger sustained moderate injuries.
Both occupants were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton for treatment, said Sgt. Adam Grossman, a State Police spokesman.
