TRENTON — A 16-year-old boy was shot in the stomach Tuesday night after a confrontation with two men in the West Ward, police said.
The teen was sitting on the side of a building on the 600 block of West State Street when two people approached him and asked where he was from. The 16-year-old told one of the suspects “Around the way,” Lt. Mark Kieffer said.
“And he pulls out a gun and shoots him at close range,” Kieffer said.

Officer Victor Miranda called in the shooting at 7:46 p.m. An ambulance took the boy to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was admitted for observation. The injuries from the shooting were not believed to be life-threatening, Kieffer said.
Police described one suspect as a black male, dark complexion, 18 to 19 years old, and carrying a silver handgun. The second suspect was described as a black male, 6 feet tall, and 160 pounds. No age estimate was given.
