TRENTON — A 19-year-old city man was shot in the back after he attempted to flee from armed men Wednesday night, police said.

The teen was on a porch with other people on the 400 block of Hamilton Avenue around 9:20 p.m. when two suspects emerged from the side of the house, Lt. Steve Varn said.

One of the suspects allegedly pointed a gun at the people on the porch and told them not to move.

“The victim then attempted to flee, and he was shot,” Varn said.

Police believe no one else was wounded in the shooting. No motive for the shooting was given.

An ambulance took the victim to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was in stable condition yesterday. He was expected to survive his injuries.

A full description of the suspects, who wore bandanas to hide their faces, was not available.

Detective Bryan Wyszynski is investigating. Anyone with information on the case should call police at (609) 989-4170, or the Confidential Tip Line at (609) 989-3663.
