TRENTON — A city man was beaten unconscious during a brutal carjacking by two armed men early Saturday, police said.
The 30-year-old man was going home around 1:20 a.m. and parked his Nissan XTerra on the first block of Howard Street. As he was getting out of the vehicle, three men approached and one struck him about the face with a small handgun, police said.
“Once he regained consciousnesses, he noticed his vehicle was gone, at which point he called police,” Lt. Steve Varn said.
The carjackers had taken the victim’s wallet, cash and keys to his vehicle. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries to his face. His wounds were not life-threatening, Varn said.
Police found the XTerra abandoned nearby on Jersey Street a short time after the carjacking occurred.
Full descriptions of the three suspects were not available. Detective Bryan Wysynski is investigating.
