File photo of a Trenton Police car. TRENTON — Four people were arrested and a handgun and prescription pain pills seized Wednesday evening during operations by the police department’s IMPAACT unit, police said.
Officers Stewart Owens and Steve Szbanz were in the area of the 200 block of Hanover Street around 7:30 p.m. when they saw 19-year-old city man Davon Frink driving a car.
“However, they know Davon Frink to be an unlicensed driver,” said Lt. Mark Kieffer, a police spokesman.
As the police vehicle turned around to pull Frink’s car over, Frink went to park on the street. When he stopped, 35-year-old Andrews Awode got out of the rear passenger door, police said.
The officers ordered Awode to stop and he did, but as Owens got out of his police car he could see a passenger window start to go down.
“As the window goes down, they hear a metal sound hit the pavement,” Kieffer said.
Owens pulled his service weapon as the people inside the car continued to roll down the window. Police ordered the occupants out and searched the car, where they found three small blue plastic bags containing marijuana in a tray in the center console, according to Kieffer. Endocet pills were also confiscated.
On the ground, they found a black Ruger .357 Magnum handgun thrown outside the car, police said.
Frink, Awode, and city residents Shamar Meyers, and Marissa Higginbotham, 24, were charged with weapons and drug offenses. Frink also faces numerous outstanding warrants from Trenton.
