Angel McDaniels was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear for a scheduled court appearance for unlawful weapon possession.
TRENTON — Sheriff’s officers captured a fugitive today who was placed on Mercer County’s Most Wanted list earlier this week, officials said.
Angel McDaniels, a 40-year-old man whose last known residence was in Lawrence, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear for a scheduled court appearance for unlawful weapon possession.
He was picked up at about 11:30 a.m. while walking near the intersection of Southard and Perry streets in Trenton, the county sheriff’s office announced today. McDaniels was found after an anonymous tip came in about his whereabouts, the office said.
“The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is appreciative of quick and anonymous tips that aid in the location and apprehension of criminals,” Sheriff Jack Kemler said.
The sheriff’s office placed McDaniels on the Most Wanted list Monday because a bench warrant was issued for his arrest in November after he failed to appear in Mercer County Criminal Court, the office said. McDaniels was scheduled to be sentenced for a weapon offense in Lawrence dating back to October 2012, the office said.
McDaniels is currently being held in the Mercer County Correction Center while he awaits sentencing, the office said.
Authorities also filed additional charges against him after finding drug paraphernalia in his possession at the time of the arrest, the office said.
