Colin McHugh, 28, and Michael Kopyscianski, 29, were allegedly observed running from a home in West Windsor with stolen property in their arms on Tuesday, police said.

WEST WINDSOR — Police arrested two Ewing men following a home burglary in West Windsor Tuesday.

Police now suspect the pair may be involved in a string of crimes in Mercer and Somerset counties, officials said today.

Colin McHugh, 28, and Michael Kopyscianski, 29, were allegedly observed running from a home in West Windsor with stolen property in their arms on Tuesday, township police said in a news release.

Residents called the police and told them that they saw the two men got into a red Honda and flee the area, police said.

Sgt. Lee Evans observed the car on Washington Road and signaled for it to stop, police said. After a brief attempt to elude police, the car stopped and the men began to run from it, police said.

Evans captured the passenger, Kopyscianski. He then directed other responding officers and K-9 to search for the driver, McHugh, who was apprehended in a nearby neighborhood after a foot pursuit, police said.

McHugh and Kopyscianski were taken to the Mercer County Correction Center.

An ongoing investigation including searches of the suspects’ car and residence has turned up stolen property from other burglaries in Mercer and Somerset counties, police said.

One of the additional burglaries appears to have occurred in West Windsor on the same day as the one that led to the suspects’ arrests, police said.
