TRENTON — Local authorities arrested a Hamilton man and seized more than $10,000 in drugs and cash this afternoon, officials said.
Darius Beckett, 24, was pulled over by the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force while driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Highland Avenue in Trenton, the prosecutor’s office said in a news release.
Beckett was detained without incident and a search warrant was executed on his car, revealing packaging material, the office said, and $1,063 was found on Beckett.
Officers then searched his apartment on East State Street in Hamilton and found 643 small bags of heroin, known as decks, 16 grams of marijuana, two digital scales and $3,003, the office said.
Beckett was charged with multiple counts of possession and intent to distribute drugs, as well possession of drug paraphernalia, the office said.
Officers with the prosecutor’s office, the sheriff’s office, and the Ewing, Hamilton, Lawrence and Trenton police departments were involved in the investigation under the command of Lt. Mike Novembre, the release said.
Novembre said that the estimated street values of the heroin and the marijuana are $6,430 and $160, respectively. Beckett is being held at the Mercer County in lieu of $100,000 bail.
