Daniel Minus, 21, made his first appearance in Mercer County Superior Court this morning for a bail hearing on charges of robbery and weapons offenses.
TRENTON – A city man who allegedly brandished a semi-automatic weapon during a robbery attempt earlier this month saw his bail lowered today, officials said.
Daniel Minus, 21, made his first appearance in Mercer County Superior Court this morning for a bail hearing on charges of robbery and weapons offenses.
Minus was arrested on Nov. 12 shortly after an armed robbery was reported near the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Division Street at 6:10 p.m., Assistant Prosecutor Renee Robeson said in court this morning.
“They found Minus in the area shortly after and the victim positively identified him,” Robeson said.
Minus allegedly brandished a chrome semi-automatic weapon and asked the other man for money, but the victim fled before Minus could take anything, Robeson said.
Robeson said police did not recover the weapon, but did find a black sweatshirt matching the description of the one the robber was wearing.
Minus’s attorney Jamie Coles said that the incident was a miscommunication and the result of a language barrier between Minus and the alleged victim.
Judge Gerald Council lowered Minus’s bail from $100,000 to $75,000.
Minus has no previous criminal record.
