A gang member who was carrying marijuana and a handgun was also arrested, the State Police said.
TRENTON — A drug dealer with a large quantity of heroin and a gang member who was carrying marijuana and a handgun were arrested in the city last night, a State Police spokesman said.
Marquette Richardson, 21, of Trenton was spotted in the area of Sweets Avenue and Barber Street at about 9:45 p.m., allegedly conducting drug transactions. Detectives from a State Police crime suppression unit stopped his vehicle and saw heroin on the front passenger seat, Sgt. Adam Grossman said.
The detectives seized 440 bags of heroin, worth about $4,500, Grossman said.
Richardson was charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park and was detained at the Mercer County Correction Center.
At 11:30 p.m., the State Police unit working with Trenton police arrested city man Timothy Miller, 32. Miller, who is affiliated with a gang, briefly fled from police on foot and was observed tossing away materials suspected to be marijuana, Grossman said.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, certain persons not to possess weapons, resisting arrest, marijuana possession and possession with intent to distribute. He is being held at the correction center.
Bail information for the two men was not available.
