Police said the call for the robbery came in just after 3:30 p.m. today and officials were sent to the PNC Bank in Falls Township on West Trenton Avenue.
FALLS TOWNSHIP — A bank here was robbed today for the second time in less than a month after a man brandished a gun and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
Police said a man wearing a scarf or shirt to cover his face entered the PNC Bank on West Trenton Avenue around 3:40 p.m. They said that when he approached the counter and demanded money, he showed the teller a silver revolver.
After receiving the money, the man fled on foot, heading east on West Trenton Avenue in the direction of a gas station and bowling alley, police said.
Police described the man as a black male with a medium to dark complexion, in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, and with a medium build. He was wearing jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.
Police said the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
In April, the same PNC bank was robbed, and a TD Bank on West Trenton Avenue was robbed in March when a man walked into the bank and made a verbal demand to a teller, threatening to use a gun. That man also made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Also in April, a man tried to rob a Bank of America branch on East Trenton Avenue but left empty handed, police said.
Police said it is unclear whether any of the bank robberies and the attempted robbery are related.
Anyone with information about the robbery today is urged to call the Falls Township Police Department at 215-949-9111 or the FBI at 215-641-8910.
