HAMILTON — Authorities are investigating after a fire ripped through a vacant house Tuesday evening. The fire at the home on the 100 block of Nebraska Avenue has been declared suspicious, and police, fire marshals and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating, Hamilton Police Capt. Remo DiPaolo said.
Firefighters were called out shortly before 6:45 p.m., and crews from Hamilton, Nottingham, Rusling Hose, Mercerville and DeCou Volunteer Fire Companies ended up battling the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
The vacant home had no power to it, so electrical causes have been ruled out. DiPaolo said authorities have no information on a potential suspect, but are asking for the public’s help in reporting any person or suspicious activity near the house around the time the fire broke out.
Anyone with information should call Detective Matt Bagley at (609) 581-4030, or the police tip line at (609) 581-4008.
