Man wounded in shooting at Trenton deli

A victim was struck in the leg. His injury was not believed to be life-threatening, police said.


TRENTON — A shooting in front of a city deli this afternoon left a man wounded in the leg, police said.

The victim was at the Rodriguez & Reyes Deli on Stuyvesant Avenue near the intersection with Christoph Street around 3:15 p.m. when he was hit, Lt. Steve Varn said. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

No information on a motive or suspect was immediately available.

Nearby residents said they heard nine or ten shots, possibly from two gunmen. The victim was inside the store when he was struck.

He limped across the street after the shooting ended and got into an SUV before police arrived, the residents said. The SUV took the victim to the hospital for treatment.
