Hightstown police urge residents to stay alert, aware after recent of burglaries

The police department is urging residents to lock their car doors and residences, use alarm systems and keep valuables out of clear sight.

HIGHTSTOWN — After a recent rash of vehicle burglaries, and burglaries of a residence and a commercial property, police are asking the residents to be more proactive to prevent more crimes, police said.

The residence is on Bennett Place and the business is on Mercer Street, while the car break-ins occurred in various locations, police said. Patrols have been increased since the incidents occurred.

The police department is urging residents to lock their car doors and residences, use alarm systems and keep valuables out of clear sight.

Police are also asking residents to report suspicious incidents and sounds to police, such as dogs barking excessively, alarms sounding, glass breaking and another else out of the norm.
