A Trenton and Hamilton resident were shot in their cars in the North Ward and a Trenton resident was shot in the East Ward. All were listed in stable condition.

TRENTON — Police are investigating two shootings that happened in the city Thursday.

At 6:42 p.m., a car with three people inside was traveling near the corner of North Montgomery Street and East Hanover Street when the passengers "heard rapid gunfire," police Lt. Mark Kieffer said today.

Two of the passengers, a 19-year-old Trenton male and 22-year-old Hamilton male, realized they had been struck during the gunfire, Kieffer said.

The Hamilton resident was treated for a gunshot wound to the right thigh and the Trenton resident underwent emergency surgery for a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, Kieffer said.

Both were listed in stable condition at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, Kieffer said.

A few hours later, at 11:45 p.m., a 20-year-old city resident was shot while walking to a grocery store near the corner of Hampton and Greenwood avenues, Kieffer said.

The suspect, described as a 25-year-old heavyset black male wearing all black clothing, pulled up in a dark car and shot the victim's direction, striking him once in the lower leg, Kieffer said.

The victim walked home and was taken to Capital Health Regional, Kieffer said.

Anyone with information related to the incidents is asked to contact Detective Wilfredo Rodriguez at (609) 989-4155 or the Trenton Police Confidential Tip Line at (609) 989-3663.
