EWING — A gunman shot at two Sussex County men who were trying to sell an all-terrain vehicle in the township yesterday afternoon, leaving one with a gunshot wound to his left arm, police said.
The man who was hit, a 22-year-old Andover resident, and a 20-year-old companion were on the 300 block of Dryden Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. trying to sell the ATV to an unidentified man.
As soon as the deal was struck, two other men came out from behind a trailer and one open fire with a handgun, police said.
The wounded man and his friend got in their car and fled to a parking lot on the 1400 block of Prospect Street. Police and emergency medical personnel were called, and an ambulance took him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was in stable condition there last night.
Police did not have a full description of the gunman or the person he was with. The man who was trying to buy the ATV was described as a black male, dark-skinned, 5 foot 4 inches tall, with facial hair and wearing a puffy black jacket.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information for police is asked to call Detective Jay Shaler at (609) 882-1313 ext. 5573 or the township police tip line at (609) 882-7530.
